Most of the austenitic stainless steels can be readily welded using fusion or resistance methods. Oxyacetylene welding is not recommended. Filler metal should be AWS E/ER Stainless Steel Plate 310H. Although Stainless Steel Plate 310H has a high work hardening rate, it can be drawn, headed, upset, and stamped. Full annealing is required after cold work to remove internal stress.Stainless Steel Plate 310H does not posses sufficient resistance to carbon and nitrogen absorption for service in the highly carburizing atmospheres of industrial heat treating furnaces. 330 or 333 are more suited to this latter environment.
